Advocacy Support Cymru

Advocacy Support Cymru (ASC) is a specialist advocacy provider currently delivering independent advocacy services in parts of South and Mid Wales.

Our vision is to consistently provide the highest possible quality of independent advocacy.

Our focus is to value, support and work with people who need to be heard in order to promote social inclusion, equality and social justice.

We believe independent advocacy is important because it seeks to give a voice to people who can't make themselves heard. Advocacy helps to ensure that people are as involved as they can be in the things that affect them, and are able to communicate their needs and wishes to others who may have influence or power over their lives.

From 1st October 2014 Advocacy Support Cymru will become the new service provider for the Independent Mental Capacity (IMCA) service in the following areas:

  • Blaenau Gwent
  • Caerphilly
  • Cardiff
  • Merthyr Tydfil
  • Monmouthshire
  • Newport
  • Rhondda Cynon Taff
  • Vale of Glamorgan
  • Torfaen

The IMCA service is statutory and eligible people must have IMCA support at certain times; this will not change.

ASC will be distributing posters and leaflets in these areas, as well as undertaking a series of information and awareness raising sessions. However, if you have any queries please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
